believe it's fair that Gin has gained the second place as
the most used spirit in the world, since most brands consist
of 6 to 10 different "botanicals", why they can
apply a variety of taste to a drink that no other spirit
is capable of.
Furthermore
Gin is distilled 3 to 4 times thus most toxics (Congenes)
dillutes - which leaves out hangovers.
Most bartenders all over the world competes about making
fancy drinks, and several websites explain how to make new
and classical Gin-drinks.
Since there is a big difference between Gin's you should
concider closely which Gin you will match with the other
ingredients; but most important for any drink is the taste,
the temperature and the presentation!
